It’s holiday season and we get a number of questions about wreathes and storm doors. We’ll take the guess work out of hanging your wreath.

Deciding what door to hang your wreath on is the first question to start. The answer: it depends on the wreath. If your wreath is thin enough to fit between your prime door and your storm door, hang the wreath on your prime door. This will keep the wreath protected from outdoor elements. However, if it’s a tight fit we recommend hanging the wreath on your storm door.
Depending on your storm door, hanging your wreath gets to be a bit tricky with the glass of your storm door. Don’t worry—you have three options to fit your needs.
- Suction Cup: suction cups work great for lighter weight wreaths. Make sure the glass is clean and dry before you put the suction on. With winds and weather playing a factor, it’s recommended to check the suction cup every few days to be sure it is held down securely. If it begins to loosen its hold, remove it from the glass. Clean it well in warm, soapy water.
- Wreath Magnets: these magnets have become quite popular for hanging wreathes. They work best for lighter weight wreathes and single pane glass storm doors. The magnet isn’t strong enough to get through double pane glass. Be sure to prep and plan where you want to hang the wreath beforehand as the magnets sort of ‘jump’ to connect to each other.
- Temporary Hooks: Command Hooks work great to hang wreathes. They come in various sizes to accommodate various size wreathes and can easily be removed without damaging your storm door. Be sure to look at the packaging and choose one that is meant for outdoor use.
