NEW LARSON WEATHERPROOF STORM DOOR ENGINEERED TO BEAT NATURE'S WORST
(Brookings, SD)--- New technology is helping Larson Manufacturing market a new line of storm doors that withstands weathering. Thanks to Larson's new Dura-Tech finish, the storm doors resist harsh elements and tough use, including scuffing, and long-term color stability.
Dura-Tech is a space-age composite that is weatherproof and impervious to harsh weather conditions as well as fading, scratching and denting. Dura-Tech is a weather-resistant polymer sheet made of Luran® S ASA from BASF Plastics. Luran® S ASA is resistant to ultraviolet (UV) radiation and atmospheric oxygen at elevated temperatures. Luran® S ASA maintains its mechanical properties, original color and gloss much longer and also has greater resistance to yellowing and embrittlement. Consumers will also find Luran® S ASA in outdoor furniture, recreational equipment, swimming pools and other products that must beat tough weather conditions.
The Larson Manufacturing process bonds the Dura-Tech sheet to both sides of the composite wood core. The strong, rigid core resists warping and is treated with a special sealant to keep moisture out. The Dura-Tech treated door has a solid brass handle, brass-tone expanders, color-matched closing mechanisms and concealed exterior screws for a smooth, finished appearance. Larson is offering this new door in its multi-vent traditional design, available in white, almond and sandstone. Standard sizes are 32" x 81" and 36" x 81", with custom sizes available.
Testing in Larson's Research & Development Department has found the door to provide exceptional durability in almost any condition. In the South and the Sunbelt, homeowners will appreciate DuraTech's ability to provide ultra violet protection for the storm door, which decreases fading and aging. DuraTech's solid layer of color will also hide unsightly scratches, which can be a problem on painted surfaces. The high-luster finish also resists dents, prolonging the life and beauty of the storm door and the home's entrance.
Larson Manufacturing is the largest manufacturer of storm doors in the United States. In addition to the new Dura-Tech line, Larson also manufactures aluminum and vinyl-clad storm doors. The company designed and built its first wood core storm door in 1966. Larson's new Dura-Tech door is the latest example of their technological leadership in the manufacture of residential storm doors.
