FAQ (before you buy...)

  • Can the door be easily removed by a burglar?
    The screws that attach the hinges on the door and to the door facing are 5/16 hex head screws. Behind those hinges are 5/8” holes drilled in the edge of the door. When closed, the vault pins go up inside those holes making it very difficult to get the door open even if the hinges are removed.
  • What should I look for in a security door?
    Typically, the most vulnerable area and point of entry for an intruder is the lock body. Steel guard doors have reinforced lock guards for added strength. Steel Guard doors accept most standard double cylinder deadbolt and keyed knob or lever sets.
  • Can I get a screen with this door?
    Yes. Screen availability varies. Please check with store associates.
  • Does the door come with hardware?
    You get to choose your own handle set to match your home style. Steel Guard doors accept most standard double cylinder deadbolt and keyed knob or lever sets.

Caring for your door (after you buy...)

  • How do I change my glass and screen?
    Unscrew the clip to remove glass. Replace with screen and reinstall clip. The screen can be in either top or bottom.
  • How do I clean my door?
    • Glass: Wash glass using a household glass cleaner, or a warm water/mild detergent mixture, and a soft cloth or paper towel. Acetone may also be used.
    • Hinges/Hardware: Hinges and door hardware may require occasional lubrication. A silicone spray lubricant is recommended.
    • Door Finish: Non-abrasive paste wax may be used on your door's outer surface to help keep the finish looking new. (Follow directions on the product's label.) Rubbing alcohol or turpentine could also be used for tough stains.
  • Can I paint my door?
    It is not recommended that you paint your storm door. A durable powder coated paint finish is applied to your door and alterations to the product could void the warranty. Larson offers multiple colors to coordinate with most exteriors. If you need a unique color, it is recommended that you seek painting advice from a body shop.
  • How do I maintain my handle finish?
    Wash hardware using a warm water/mild detergent mixture, and a soft cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or cloths as they may damage the clear coat finish.
