FAQ (before you buy...)

• Why is this considered a security door?
  Security doors no longer have to have bars on them to be secure, thanks to the innovative KeepSafe Glass feature. Like an automobile windshield, the KeepSafe glass has a laminated security shield sandwiched between two pieces of factory strengthened glass. When impacted, the broken glass clings to the laminated interlayer and remains intact preventing entry through the opening. The glass is permanently affixed to the frame of the door so it stands up to repeated blows by blunt objects.
• Is the lock different than standard doors?
  Yes. The Guardian 3 Multi Point Lock secures the door in three places. Hooks at the top and bottom of the door frame combine with the live bolt to secure into the door jamb. A two-step process is required to lock and unlock the door, making it child-safe and adult friendly.
• Does this door add energy efficiency?
  Yes. The Secure Elegance storm door offers more energy efficiency options than any other storm door. The KeepSafe glass blocks 99% of the sun’s harmful UV rays and significantly increases the insulation value compared to standard glass. The overlapping edge seals out weather, dust and bugs. The stronger the window blows, the tighter the door seals to your opening. Double weatherstripping is applied to all sides of the frame for added protection.
• Does this door come with a screen?
  No. Because this door is designed for security, a screen is not available. The glass is permanently affixed to the frame.
• Does this door come with screw cover caps?
  Yes. Screw cap covers hide installation screws on the exterior of the door for a finished look.
• Does this door come with one-way screws?
  Yes. As another added level of protection, this model includes 5 one-way screws for use on the latch side mounting rail to prevent removal of door frame for entry. Installation of these screws is optional.
• Can I get different finishes?
  Yes. This model comes with Brass finishes. For Brushed Nickel, see 349-17.

Caring for your door (after you buy...)

• How do I clean my door?
  • Glass:Wash glass using a household glass cleaner, or a warm water/mild detergent mixture, and a soft cloth or paper towel. Acetone may also be used.
  • Hinges/Hardware: Hinges and door hardware may require occasional lubrication. A silicone spray lubricant is recommended.
  • Door Finish: Non-abrasive paste wax may be used on your door's outer surface to help keep the finish looking new. (Follow directions on the product's label.) Rubbing alcohol or turpentine could also be used for tough stains.
• Can I paint my door?
  It is not recommended that you paint your storm door. A baked on enamel finish is applied to your door and alterations to the product could void the warranty. Larson offers multiple colors to coordinate with most exteriors. If you need a unique color, it is recommended that you seek painting advice from a body shop.
• How do I maintain my handle finish?
  1. Wash brass hardware using a warm water/mild detergent mixture, and a soft cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or cloths as they may damage the clear coat finish.
  2. Apply non-abrasive paste wax on the brass hardware to help restore its bright finish.
