Can I paint my door?

Which Larson Storm Door do you have?

  • Classic-View™
Classic View™ doors need to have the surface scrubbed with steel wool, sand paper, or a Scotch Brite pad to remove any grease or oils. Apply an epoxy primer. Top coat with a premium grade of solvent-based acrylic lacquer or solvent-based enamel paint. For the best results, have it done at a body shop, as they have the proper equipment.
  • Aluminum Wood Core
Aluminum Wood Core doors need to have the surface scrubbed with steel wool, sand paper, or a Scotch Brite pad to remove the sheen (gloss), then cleaned with a solvent to remove any grease or oils. Apply an epoxy primer. Top coat with a premium grade of solvent-based acrylic lacquer or solvent-based enamel paint. For best results, have it done at a body shop, as they have the proper equipment.
  • Vinyl Wood Core
Vinyl Wood Core doors are NOT recommended to be painted. There is a chemical reaction with the paint that can cause the vinyl to bubble. The warranty IS VOIDED on any Vinyl Wood Core door that is painted.
  • Duratech
Duratech doors are NOT recommended to be painted.  The warranty IS VOIDED on any Duratech door that is painted.
  • Weather-Tec™
